Dr. Jinsil Hwaryoung Seo (KR/US) is an interactive artist, designer, and researcher who explores the integration of technology, education, and health within the artistic sphere. She is an associate professor in the College of Performance, Visualization, & Fine Arts and serves as the director of the Institute for Applied Creativity at Texas A&M University. Dr. Seo holds a PhD in Interactive Art and Technology from Simon Fraser University in Canada and an MFA in Computer Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York. Her academic background provides a robust foundation for her deep understanding of the symbiotic relationship between art and technology. Dr. Seo’s creative practice delves into the intricate interplay between the human body, nature, and technology, with a focus on the aesthetic qualities of experiential art and the emergent relationships with interactive and immersive artworks. Dr. Seo’s scholarship has significantly contributed to Interactive art and technology study by offering a unique perspective on how integrating technology can enhance the quality of experience across various user groups. Her works explore tangible and embodied interaction, tangible interfaces and mixed reality learning applications for STEM education, medical/nursing education, social awareness, interactive performance, creative aging, and conversational AI. Her extensive body of work includes numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, juried art/design exhibitions. Additionally, she has successfully secured substantial funding to support her research and creative projects.
