Michael Wallinger (AT) is a media artist. Their practice strives to fathom the performative, communicative and symbolic dimensionalities of data-driven technologies. Besides the co-founding and ongoing association with Format(*.strk), a network of collaborators from arts and science working on interdisciplinary productions and formats in the realms of media, art and technology, a variety of projects and international collaborations in these fields were realised in the last years. These positions and contributions have been exhibited and presented internationally at various venues and events, including HEK Basel, 37C3 by Chaos Computer Club, Ars Electronica Festival, Seoul Biennale, SXSW Texas, State of the AI (KH-Kassel), European Forum Alpbach, FC Linz, CIVA Media Art Festival, and Museums Quartier Vienna. Currently artist in residence at the MUSAE project, Michael received an Honorable Mention at this years Prix Ars Electronica, was awarded by the International Press Institute in 2023, was an Artist in Residence at MediaFutures (S+T+ARTS) in 2022, and received the Content Vienna Award in the same year.
