Wolfgang Höhl (AT/DE) is the institute director of the privately owned Research Institute for Visual Computing and an adjunct professor for Visual Computing and xR-Technologies at the Technical University of Munich (TUM).

Born and grown up in Vienna, Austria, he worked as an architect and city planner in Vienna, London, Hamburg and Munich. He has early specialized on computer aided design. He degreed as an engineer in architecture and city planning at Vienna University of Technology and earned his doctorate at Leibniz Universität in Hannover.

For more than twenty years he has been teaching and researching in the field of applied software development in 3D computer graphics. He was a professor for computer animation and academic head of the department at Macromedia University of Applied Sciences in Munich, was department head of technology (CAD/CAX) at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences and visiting associate professor at the FH JOANNEUM in Graz. He was also a lecturer in the Media Informatics program at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich and in the Media Design program at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences.

As an author and co-author of more than 150 journal publications, he has written several books and book chapters and publishes regularly in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Today he is also a program committee member of renowned international conferences, a recognized reviewer for international scientific journals and an expert evaluator for the european commission and national innovation agencies.
